INTRODUCING THE CLIMATE-POSITIVE PLANT-BASED CHOCOLATE BAR

100% organic, vegan and natural chocolate bars from the nu company that taste good and do good for the planet too.

Have you heard the ‘nus’? nucao is a plant-based chocolate bar on a climate-positive mission – for every bar sold or sampled, the nu company will plant a tree and has planted over 10 million to date.

With plans to plant one billion trees by 2030, in partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects, the nu company is supporting World Earth Day 2022. They want to make every beep at the checkout a signal for a greener world – so if you ever needed an excuse to buy chocolate – there it is!

Eden works with local communities in various countries to plant forests on a large scale, creating local jobs and protecting ecosystems. In working with them, the nu company makes a contribution to mitigating climate change.

A ‘nu’ way to indulge that’s more than just chocolate – and available in Sainsbury’s – it’s made using only responsibly-sourced ingredients. nucao is made from organic chocolate with hemp seeds and roasted hazelnuts. Here are the key nucao facts below:

  • Naturally tasty nucao is made with cacao from a Control Union certified Peruvian farmers’ cooperative, ensuring the ingredients are fairly-grown by companies committed to sustainable development and improvement of social conditions
  • 100% organic, vegan and natural
  • nucao’s five flavour varieties, including creamy noisette and crisp & crunch, are wrapped in specially-developed, plastic-free, home-compostable packaging
  • nucao is made without refined sugar – using only natural coconut blossom sugar
  • Hemp fields can also bind CO2 and do not drain the soil or require artificial fertilisation

Co-founder Christian Fenner said: “The nu company is the social food brand from Germany that is transforming the way people eat and bringing sustainable change to the food industry. Every element in our sourcing and production process has been carefully considered to make it as environmentally-conscious as we possibly can. We want the whole world to know that climate-positive snacking is the way forward.”
