How Gen Z Have Changed The Face Of Fashion

There is no denying that Gen Z has been very influential, not just within fashion but in society as a whole. They are changing the face of everything, it’s Gen Z’s world, and we are all just living in it!

Gen Z grew up with technology at their fingertips, practically coming out of the womb with an iPhone in their hands. They adapt to new trends and technology at a quick rate and with everything changing at a rapid pace, they celebrate and forget trends just as fast, with this only accelerating the natural cycle and evolution of fashion, coming back in a cyclical pattern.

Bringing Back The Old Trends

You either love or hate Gen Z for their love of old fashion trends, especially the re-introduction of low-rise jeans and flares.

Everything comes back in a full circle, the 90s and 00s have become popular again with tank tops, slip dresses, hair clips, small bags, lip liners and chunky trainers.

But one thing you cannot deny is their confidence to wear what they want and make it cool. Gen Z has thrown out the rulebook of what it means to be cool and trendy. They don’t follow trends, they set them.

Conscious Of Fast Fashion

Fast fashion has had astronomical and disastrous effects on the planet and Gen Z wants to stand up and change this. They have made thrift shopping and scouting for vintage finds cool and it saves you money. They want to make sure that what they do is economical and sustainable, as the past generations have proved that this way of living will only end in one way.

Now, changing how you shop won’t miraculously solve everything, but it is making a stand to make sure working conditions and human rights are improved for these people who get paid pennies to make your fast fashion item. They are not afraid to be loud and proud of what they believe in and shout it from the rooftops.

The fashion industry has the second-largest impact on the environment, with its rapid consumption of fashion and clothing, just like the techwear.store. Along with its mass-production of cheap items and using synthetic materials that use a disproportionate amount of water to produce. This continues to leave a large carbon footprint that if no one does anything to change will only increase and then the damaging effects could be irreversible.  But with Gen Z now on the case, hopefully, they can continue to make positive and lasting changes.

They aren’t interested in spending money on loads of clothes that just sit in their wardrobes collecting dust. They want to know where their clothes are from and how they are made and most importantly, who made them. Was it fair? Was it ethical? They want to shop with brands that align with their own values.

They Are All For Inclusivity

Gen Z is changing the world and they are including everyone in their movement. People can be who they want and more importantly dress however they want to and express themselves. The fashion industry has listened to this and now more so than ever, brands are making unisex clothes and inclusive fashion companies are on the rise.

Gen Z wants everyone to be represented and to be comfortable expressing themselves, the industry is finally listening with gender norms and stereotypes being thrown out the window and being rewritten. If you like it, you can wear it.

It’s being political through the art of fashion. No one should be told what they can and cannot wear and gen-Z are the first people to make sure this is the case.

Their fresh and open-minded view of the world is what the fashion industry needs and their push for sustainability and inclusion can already be seen. Positive changes are underway and hopefully here to stay.

Gen Z has had a remarkable impact on the fashion industry positively, promoting much-needed change.  They have shone a light on the issues within the industry in correlation to its impact on human rights and the environment. They’ve made sustainability fashionable.
