Siva Ashram: Costa Rica’s Hindu Spiritual Sanctuary and Botanical Gardens
What is Siva Ashram?
Siva Ashram is a 33 acre spiritual sanctuary located in the beautiful beach town of Nosara on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Siva Ashram is a work in progress, with a 300 year plan to create a sanctuary for all life; people, plants and animals. The Ashram is designed to support individual’s spiritual journeys and is a safe place for those who are looking to pursue self-realisation. The aim is for people of all faiths and backgrounds to be able to enjoy Costa Rica’s stunning biodiversity while also learning about the life transforming tools of the Hindu spiritual religion.
Costa Rica: the home to Siva Ashram
The location of Siva Ashram is no mistake – Costa Rica is abundant with biodiversity with a variety of beautiful terrains; from stunning mountains, a range of beaches, luscious green rainforest and rocky volcanos. Costa Rica is also taking a stand against climate change and has implemented a number of environmental policies in order to protect their rainforests and animals. The country also runs their electric grid on 100% renewable energy. This location aligns with the vision of Siva Ashram and so it makes the perfect home to the spiritual sanctuary.
The gardens of Siva Ashram
There will be 7 primary gardens of Siva Ashram which are inspired by Hindu philosophy with each one representing an area of the mind. Once the gardens are open to visitors, the aim is to conduct guided tours where visitors will end their walk at the temple to meditate or reflect on their journey and celebrate the stunning beauty of the nature around them.
A natural Sanctuary for Costa Rica’s Wildlife
Siva Ashram is the home to various species of wildlife, including birds, coati, armadillo, monkeys and even the stunning black panther! Various species of trees and plants are also being planted daily, to naturally encourage wildlife to thrive in the area. The vision is that Siva Ashram will be a sanctuary for all wildlife, with visitors experiencing living in harmony with the animals around them.
Siva Ashram’s Spiritual Sanctuary Website
To promote the spiritual sanctuary, Siva Ashram employed this web design company to create a visually inspiring website to coincide with their journey. The website features stunning imagery throughout, with detailed information on the gardens, wildlife, plants and tree species and an inspiring timeline of events to demonstrate how the initial vision of the Ashram has evolved into a reality. The website also incorporates a blog so that followers can keep up with the latest insights and developments of the sanctuary and a donations page to contribute to the future of the Ashram.
How to visit Siva Ashram?
Currently, the gardens are still under development and it has taken almost 10 years for the initially trees and plants to come into maturity. The hope is that by 2024 Siva Ashram will be able to open to doors to it’s first visitors.
