As a travel enthusiast and a mum of two young boys, finding the perfect family-friendly destination is always a top priority. I recently had the pleasure of visiting the newly launched Tivoli Alvor Algarve Resort in Portugal, it exceeded all expectations as an ideal place to travel with my husband and our two boys under the age of three.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a luxury vibe that permeated the entire resort. The modern decors and attention to detail in every corner created an ambiance of relaxation and sophistication, perfect for both parents and children. The resort boasts amazing facilities that cater to every member of the family.

Accommodation

Tivoli Alvor offers a range of well-appointed and spacious rooms and suites to ensure a comfortable stay for all guests. Whether you’re a couple, a family, or a group of friends, there’s an accommodation option to suit your needs. The rooms feature modern decor, luxurious amenities, and thoughtful touches that enhance the overall experience.

A standout feature of the accommodations is the availability of sunbeds outside the rooms, allowing guests to relax and soak up the sun while enjoying privacy and convenience.

Our room at Tivoli Alvor was exceptional. We stayed in a spacious family suite that comfortably accommodated all four of us. The room’s modern design and thoughtful layout were truly impressive. We especially loved the turn down service every evening – the kids marvelled in the fact chocolates were left on their pillows every evening.

Food and Drink

When it comes to dining, the Tivoli Alvor truly offers something for everyone and better still its all-inclusive. The variety of restaurants available ensured that even the pickiest eaters in our family were satisfied. We indulged in mouthwatering cuisines from around the world, including Italian at Carosello, Meat feasts at Roastic steakhouse, and an international fare at Essenze (with Mad Med Mediterranean restaurant opening very soon). The buffet-style options at the main restaurant provided endless choices, making mealtime a delightful experience for all.

Essenze: This is the resort’s main restaurant, and it serves as the perfect place to start your culinary journey. The buffet-style dining concept ensures that there is something to please every taste. From international dishes to local delicacies, the variety on offer is simply astounding. Freshly prepared salads, succulent grilled meats, and delectable desserts are just a few of the highlights. The attentive staff ensures that your dining experience is nothing short of exceptional.
Carosello: If you’re in the mood for Italian cuisine, this is the place to be. This charming restaurant offers a menu filled with authentic Italian flavours. From classic pasta dishes to wood-fired pizzas, every bite is a taste of Italy. The cozy atmosphere and warm service make it the perfect spot for a romantic dinner or a family gathering.
Roastic steakhouse : Meat lovers rejoice! Choose your ideal cut of meat and the chef will cook it just how you like. These choose the sides and sauces to accompany your meal. Pair your meal with a glass of chilled white wine for the ultimate dining experience.

Swimming Pools

The swimming pools were a highlight for us. The resort features several pools, including an adult-only pool for those seeking a serene and tranquil environment. The wellbeing centre, complete with an indoor pool, provided a blissful retreat for moments of relaxation and rejuvenation. But the real winner for our little ones was the kids’ club, which featured a fun activity slide in the dedicated kids’ area pool. Our boys had a blast splashing around while we could keep an eye on them from nearby sunbeds.

The Kids Club

The Kids Club at Tivoli Alvor is a haven for children, offering a wide range of activities that cater to different ages and interests. As soon as we stepped into the club, we were greeted by friendly and enthusiastic staff who made an instant connection with our kids. Their warm and caring approach instantly put our minds at ease, knowing that our little ones were in capable hands.

The club’s facilities are specifically designed with children’s enjoyment and safety in mind. The dedicated kids’ area pool, complete with a fun activity slide, was an immediate hit with our children. They spent hours splashing and playing while we relaxed nearby.

Inside the Kids Club, the indoor play area was filled with a variety of toys, games, and creative materials that sparked their imaginations. From building blocks to arts and crafts supplies, there was something for every interest. The club’s staff organised regular and age-appropriate activities, including treasure hunts, face painting, storytelling sessions, and even cooking classes.

One aspect that impressed us was the attention to detail in catering to children of different age groups. The Kids Club at Tivoli Alvor divided its activities into specific age categories, ensuring that each child had a tailored experience. The club’s staff engaged with children on their level, providing age-appropriate guidance and support, which made our children feel seen and valued. There is a programme each day for children planned in advance.

Local Traditions at Restaurante Àbabuja

Restaurante Àbabuja, a hidden gem in Alvor, holds a special connection with Tivoli Alvor, adding to the allure of this culinary hotspot. Our family night out at Restaurante Àbabuja was an unforgettable experience that encapsulated the essence of traditional Portuguese dining. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a charming rustic ambiance. The highlight of our evening was the opportunity to handpick our own fish from a display of the day’s catch. It was a unique and interactive experience that brought us closer to the essence of the local cuisine.

As we settled into our table overlooking the vast expanse of the ocean, the anticipation grew. The aroma of freshly grilled seafood filled the air, creating an enticing atmosphere. Our taste buds were tantalized as we savored the flavors of the expertly prepared dishes. It was a family night out that we will cherish, as it allowed us to immerse ourselves in the rich flavors and stunning surroundings of this charming restaurant.

Zoo Marine

Located close to Tivoli Alvor, Zoo Marine is a must-visit destination for families seeking a memorable and educational experience. This captivating marine-themed park offers a myriad of attractions and activities that both children and adults can enjoy.

One of the highlights of our visit to Zoo Marine was the incredible dolphin show. We were mesmerized by the grace and intelligence of these magnificent creatures as they effortlessly performed awe-inspiring tricks and synchronized routines. The dolphin show was not only entertaining but also served as an educational experience, shedding light on the importance of marine conservation and fostering a deeper appreciation for these remarkable animals.

Beyond the dolphin show, Zoo Marine offers a range of interactive exhibits and attractions. From underwater tunnels that allow visitors to observe marine life up close to interactive presentations where kids can learn about different species, the park provides an immersive experience that sparks curiosity and ignites a sense of wonder in young minds.

The spa

Indulging in a spa treatment at Tivoli Alvor was the perfect respite I needed after the hustle and bustle of mum life combined with traveling. My choice for rejuvenation was a facial using the award-winning products from Natura Bissé Barcelona, known for their luxurious and effective skincare solutions.

From the moment I stepped into the tranquil spa, a sense of serenity washed over me. The ambiance was soothing, with soft music and the subtle aroma of essential oils. The skilled spa therapist greeted me with a warm smile, instantly putting me at ease.

The facial began with a gentle cleansing, followed by a series of expertly applied Natura Bissé products. The therapist’s deft hands worked their magic, massaging and pampering my skin, melting away tension and fatigue. The rejuvenating properties of the award-winning products seeped into my pores, leaving my skin feeling nourished and revitalized.

As the treatment progressed, I could feel the stress melting away, replaced by a deep sense of relaxation. The facial included a combination of exfoliation, mask application, and hydrating serums, all tailored to address my specific skincare needs. The therapist’s knowledge and skill were evident as they personalized the treatment to deliver maximum benefits.

Throughout the treatment, I drifted into a blissful state, forgetting the demands of daily life. The tranquil environment and the healing touch of the therapist provided a sanctuary where I could fully unwind and recharge.

My spa treatment at Tivoli Alvor was a much-needed escape, allowing me to indulge in self-care and recharge my batteries. It was a reminder of the importance of taking time for myself amidst the demands of motherhood and the challenges of travel. Tivoli’s spa provided the perfect haven, and the Natura Bissé facial was a luxurious treat that left me feeling pampered, rejuvenated, and ready to take on the world.
