Making the Most of At-Home Date Night
If you are looking for something to keep the magic alive in your relationship or a change of pace for your next date night, there are several things you can do. You do not need to spend a fortune to have a great date night or travel to a fancy restaurant for dinner; you can plan a fun night in instead.
A good date night is about planning something that is enjoyable for both of you, not about spending a set amount of money. If you and your partner enjoy movies, board games, or something a little more passionate, centering your date night around these activities is a great start.
Planning Your Date Night
Whether you are planning an at-home date night together or as a surprise for your significant other, you should begin by deciding what you will do for your date. If you are interested in movies, do you pick something new or choose to watch an old favorite? There are benefits to both.
A new movie will be more exciting; however, if you have an old favorite, you are guaranteed you will enjoy it but with little excitement. If you are planning a movie night, however, you could compromise and pick one new and one favorite movie to get the best of both.
Once you have decided on the activity for your date night, next it is time to plan the food. Will one of you cook a meal, will you order takeout from a favorite restaurant, or will you spend more quality time together and cook the meal together too?
This will depend on preference and can be special whichever option you decide to go with. If you are cooking, the planning will be to decide on the meal that will be cooked, go to the store, and buy the ingredients. If you are ordering takeout, we recommend ordering in advance for a specific time to avoid waiting on the night if the restaurant is busy.
Enjoying the Perfect Night In
Executing the perfect night in with your partner will require different things depending on what you have planned. If you have young children, this could involve dropping them off to be looked after overnight or ensuring bedtime goes smoothly.
If you have decided on a dressed-up evening, you may want to spend some time getting ready and setting the right atmosphere. Then the evening can begin; you should set up whichever activity you have decided in advance so there is as little as possible to do when spending time together.
From there, it is wherever the mood takes you; communication is key on a date; if something is not working, discuss it so you can adjust the plans and enjoy your evening. If the movie is a dud, change it rather than sitting through something terrible and having it deflate the atmosphere.
If something is not working, laugh about it, it will make the evening memorable but does not have to ruin things. The perfect evening is whatever you make of it and whatever you will both enjoy.
