Crafting a Relaxed and Iconic Trip to One of the UK’s Gems

Crafting a Relaxed and Iconic Trip to One of the UK’s Gems

tourist and visitor hotspots in the UK. As you’ll know, much of the appeal of four of these is that they’re iconic cities with plenty of things to do all year around, while the other is the go-to seaside town to catch some sun (when it eventually comes out).

Liverpool often ranks among the top choices, but we’re shifting our focus to just outside the city. It’s a very well-known place in some circles, but not always pointed to as the idyllic village for a fun getaway. That place is Aintree, home of the famed racing festival that pumps around £60 million into the local economy each year. While this is the biggest draw for a visit, there’s also a lot more to enjoy in the area.

Entertainment and Activities In and Around Aintree

Aintree itself is a small village, but this kind of setting offers the perfect getaway for many people. The available activities and entertainment are more focused on relaxation. People come in from surrounding towns and the major nearby city to enjoy the Aintree Golf Centre. You can spend the day playing golf, visit the 30-bay driving range, and enjoy the village’s main event at the Café Bar of the Golf Centre.

Also essential for a relaxing and fun day out is Urban Calm Aintree. Here, you can book yourself in for an extensive range of beauty treatments, including hair styling, colouring, manicures, pedicures, eye treatments, waxing, facials, massages, and spray tan sessions. It’s highly rated and a great way to look your best while enjoying either the lovely village or going into the city.

If you’re just looking to get away, there are, of course, plenty of options online that align with the usual theme of flocking to Aintree. Online gambling and, particularly, roulette casino games, remain popular across the UK throughout the year. You don’t have to wait for the horses to back your lucky numbers, with Prestige Auto Roulette and Lucky 6 Roulette spinning throughout the day.

So, you can enjoy some leisurely activities out in Aintree, and access popular online table games while in your accommodation, but what about dining? Aintree has plenty of options, but for a more grand night out, you’d likely be looking to go into Liverpool. Located in the well-reviewed Titanic Hotel, it’s tough to look past the menu and setting of Stanley’s Bar and Grill for a sublime spot for lunch, afternoon tea, or an evening meal.

Going For the Main Event

Naturally, the biggest and best time of year to go to Aintree is when the Grand National Festival is taking place. This makes late March and early April the prime time to go. The Aintree racecourse has become famous for the main race because it’s such a difficult run that tests jockeys and their steeds to the maximum.

The comprehensive Grand National guide details this further, but the hedgerow fences, huge field of runners, and handicapping all contribute to the race being particularly hard to call. As a result, even the favourites tend to get long odds to win, boosting the popularity and intrigue of the race further. With it being a festival, you can make a great day of watching other races, enjoying the amenities of the course, and relaxing on (hopefully) a nice day.

If you want a nice, quiet getaway with a bustling nearby city to dip into, Aintree’s a fine choice. Still, with the Grand National coming every year, there’s always the chance to tie your trip in with the racing festivities.
