27 – 28 AUGUST 2022 | 10AM – 11PM | FREE EVENT
East Point Pavilion in Lowestoft is hosting its first ever beer festival over the August bank holiday weekend. East Pint Beer Fest will bring locally-sourced drinks, foodie treats, live music and family activities to the iconic sea front building, which officially opened its doors in June to kick off First Light Festival.
A free access event held from 10am to 11pm on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 August, East Pint Beer Fest will be a modern take on the traditional beer festival, with an emphasis on exploring the very best beers Suffolk has to offer. Sir Toby’s Beers will be showcasing 16 local craft beers and cask ales sourced from the best breweries in the region, which will be available from a traditional stillage. In support of East Point Pavilion’s sustainability ethos, upcycled beer tokens will be specially made by Precious Plastic East in Gorleston using recycled plastic.
Alongside the extensive selection of beers, there will be locally sourced wines and plenty of interesting non-alcoholic options. There will be live music throughout the day as well as children’s games in the afternoons, plus an exciting programme of DJ sets into the evening – providing a full day out for the whole family.
A wide variety of delicious food will be on offer as always from East Point Pavilion’s independent street food traders Oishii Kitchen (Asian), Tres Hermanas (Mexican) and Black Dog Pizza (sourdough pizza). They will be joined by Rock the Kasbah, who started serving Moorish middle eastern street food at the Pavilion just this week. Barista coffees and iced teas will be available from The Black Dog Deli coffee kiosk, served alongside award-winning sausage rolls, salads, quiches and cakes.
East Point Pavilion is a vibrant and inviting venue that is open to everyone. A newly installed Changing Places toilet offers larger facilities that have the right equipment, including a changing bench and a hoist, designed to support people with disabilities who need assistance. The building is entirely step free and the bar has a lower height accessible serving area.
The East Point Pavilion is owned by East Suffolk Council but is run by First Light Festival Community Interest Company (CIC). Genevieve Christie, First Light Festival CEO and a First Light CIC director, said:
“We’re so excited for the first East Pint Beer Fest and what will be an expertly curated summer celebration of local beers, accompanied by great music and fun family activities, all with no entry fee. We’re delighted that, since opening only in June, East Point Pavilion has already become such a popular destination on the beautiful Lowestoft seafront. We look forward to welcoming locals and holiday-makers alike to what will hopefully become an annual event.”
East Pint Beer Fest is supported by a number of local organisations, including The Seagull, Marina Theatre Lowestoft, Norfolk Open Studios 2022 and Steel & Co.
Ends.
