FOCUSING ON SKILLS, RESPONSIBLE SHOPPING AND SIMPLE INGREDIENTS

Launching this week, TV chef Joe Hurd, will begin hosting a free education class for children called ‘Scran School’ via Instagram Live and YouTube. The Yorkshire chef will be offering fun interactive cooking shows designed to help educate and develop basic cooking skills that result in deliciously simple meals. Scran School will encourage its junior viewers to explore their own cupboards at home whilst highlighting the many different things that can be done with simple basics and staple food items.

Commenting on Scran School, Joe Hurd said: “As a new dad, I wanted to do my bit to help parents with home-schooling their children. There are many skills to be learnt in cooking, from maths to english and as a proud Yorkshireman, I promise this to be a fun and fuss free way to learn for children of all ages.
The Scran School series will see Joe lending his skills to young people focusing on cooking skills, responsible shopping and the creation of meals with simple ingredients. Chef Joe Hurd will be familiar with many younger viewers having appeared on the CITV children’s cooking show, The Munch Box, as well as being a regular on the BBC’s Saturday Kitchen. During the Covid-19 isolation period, Joe has also been helping the local community by personally delivering care packages to his local community in Shepshed, primarily to the elderly and vulnerable in need of food and vital supplies.

The episodes, which will be available to view for free on Instagram and YouTube, will each begin with obtaining the ingredients and learning how to prepare them effectively following easy to follow recipes. Joe will then continue to cook simple meals whilst outlining the processes and methods he’s using throughout, helping children to gain a broad understanding of how meals are put together. Each episode will be a continuation from the last, maintaining interest through delivering fun and educational videos followed by a question and answer session, giving children the opportunity to speak directly to their favourite chef and receive answers to their burning questions.
