Holiday ideas that promote a healthy lifestyle
Going away is a treat, something that you look forward to as soon as you book – the second the pay button is clicked, a countdown is added to your phone, marking the days until you can pack your bags, put your out of office on and forget about the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
In a lot of cases, going away is an indulgence (and why shouldn’t it be, it’s a treat after all). You’ll aim to eat your body weight in food, drink more than you normally do, and fully embrace the freedom of being away from everyday responsibilities. But, in some cases, you may have been working hard to lose weight beforehand, getting into fitness, or maybe you have a challenge soon after your holiday that you have to complete, a half-marathon, for example.
The last thing you want to do is ruin all your hard work, but instead of not going away at all. You could do a different type of holiday, you could do a trip which is based around being active and living a healthy lifestyle. There are so many holidays which you can book where you can have the odd treat, but also ensure you are being healthy, for example, a spa break or a walking holiday.
Below, we look into three different types of holidays which promote a healthy lifestyle.
Walking Holiday
There is something very relaxing about a walking holiday. You get to explore various landscapes and see beautiful scenery, which is often untouched and ruined by human projects. A hiking trip in England gives you the chance to disconnect from screens, breathe in fresh air, and enjoy a more mindful pace. You’ll get to spend many hours with your loved ones, which gives you ample time to chat and open up, without unwanted interruptions.
Spa Break
Spa breaks are very popular, as they are perfect for unwinding and looking after your overall health. When going on a retreat, they often include healthy meals being cooked for you, freshly prepared juices and classes like yoga, which are ideal for improving your mental health. Spas also have plenty of facilities designed to aid physical recovery and relaxation, such as saunas, steam rooms, hydrotherapy pools, and massage treatments.
Ski Break
When it comes to being active, not many holidays compete with skiing. On the average day, you’ll burn around 600+ calories and work most of your muscles. The fresh mountain air, breathtaking alpine views, and the thrill of gliding down snowy slopes make it both invigorating and fun. And after a day on the slopes, many ski resorts offer wellness facilities like hot tubs, saunas, and spa treatments – perfect for soothing sore muscles and unwinding in the evenings.
When you start looking into holidays which promote being healthy at the same time as going away, you’ll see there are a myriad of options to choose from. The above three are great suggestions, but there are plenty of others which you may enjoy, such as a cycling trip or a rock climbing break.
