Home Makeover – The Living Room

Home Makeover – The Living Room

Concept and how we did it

By adding a dark feature wall (Farrow & Ball Studio Green), we’ve added warmth and depth to the room – it works in all spaces, big or small.

With some new vertical shelving – we have made the room feel elongated, making it feel larger, as well as adding some additional display space for our Broste Copenhagen vases and plants from The Little Botanical.

The statement Montgomery navy sofas from Oak Furnitureland make the room memorable and contrast well with the deep green. They are also very cosy and add a bit of luxury to the look.

We kept everything else soft and natural, including the other walls (Farrow & Ball Shaded White) – we also decided to keep this same neutral white running throughout every other room in the house.

We replaced the carpets by exposing the wooden floorboards. To do this we sanded the floor and used a Ronseal varnish to coat.

We dressed the window in Double Pinch Pleat Boston Stripe – Natural  curtains, all made bespoke from Curtains Made Simple. These really finish off the room and create a softened feel as well as privacy!

A large round mirror from Olivias reflects the light in the room and the new fireplace frames the wood burner. They both emphasise the new feature wall.

Additional furniture from Where Saints Go continues the neutral theme with a Rizky dining rattan chair – covered with a sheep skin rug from Jacobs & Dalton. We used the WSG Pommel horse low stool to display a hamper of goodies.

The most noticeable change in this room is the lighting from Dusk Lighting – the Bombazine Seven Light Brass Globe Pendant really does draw your attention to the period features of the room. Speaking of lighting we also used Innr start up sets to control some mood lighting in this and other rooms, you can control them from your phone too!

Finally, the large Savannah Taupe natural rug from Run Rug adds warmth to the floor area for those winter months and again reinforces that natural feel.

We finished dressing with a bouquet from Appleyard London flowers, which sits on a faux marble coffee table from Olivias.
