Little Brushies Review: The Clever Toothbrush Designed For Tiny Teeth
Little Brushies review – By Rachel Ducker
Brushing a baby’s or toddler’s teeth looks easy enough. Most parents expect that until children are old enough to do the job themselves, they simply have to hold a toothbrush and sing a nursery rhyme to their little ones before the child begins to resist. But there is a snag: unless you are prepared for the battle scarred parent who has survived the fierce chewing of a baby with the jaw of a crocodile, nobody will believe you how hard it really is.
I’m an editor (and mum of three). I spend most of my waking hours writing and editing about children, and often the grumpiest pieces I get sent are from desperate mums battling with their little ones to brush their teeth every morning.
There’s a feeling that all parents want their children to have healthy teeth and gums, and that it often doesn’t happen because kids are small, and small children are hard to manage at the best of times. Today’s parents, whether they like it or not, are frequently judged and seem to be more on display than ever before. This makes it even trickier to explain that what appears to be sloppy parenting – let alone dental neglect – is in reality a tiny human with a blanket and a pacifier.
That is exactly where Little Brushies comes in.
Little Brushies is a new children’s oral care brand from dentist-mothers. Their hero product, Brushi Bear™, is a double-sided sonic electric toothbrush designed for the little mouths of babies and toddlers from 0–4 years old. The aim is to make brushing teeth easier, more effective and less stressful for parents and children alike.

A Toothbrush Created By Dentist-Mothers
It’s great to see a brand that seems to be genuinely driven by real parent experience of dealing with their babies’ teeth. The brand was created by two dentist-mums, and I love that they clearly understand the importance of brushing baby teeth from a dental perspective, but also have a genuine grasp of how hard it is to get at a baby’s teeth when they’re upside down on the sofa! They’ve taken this understanding and created a range of soft brushes and toothpastes for Little Brushies, and that immediately seemed like a brand that would be useful to me.
The Brushi Bear™ is a new early oral care product that has been specifically designed to help children overcome resistance to brushing. Suitable for children aged 0–4, the Brushi Bear™ is the first patent-pending double-sided sonic electric toothbrush. It has been engineered to help children start brushing from their first tooth, preparing them for more resistance as they get older.
Now the trick to brushing their teeth is to remember it’s more than just cleaning their teeth. It’s establishing a routine.

What Makes Brushi Bear™ Different?
Our pick of feature from Brushi Bear™ is the double-sided brush head. This is useful for children who are still getting used to having their teeth brushed and have a tendency to bite down on the toothbrush (like chewing with a fork). They may also try to turn their head to the side, chew with the toothbrush in their mouth or clamp their mouth shut. The double-sided design of the head from Brushi Bear™ means that the bristles can still reach all teeth to clean them even with these behaviours going on.
That is a really great design point for parents who have very little time to get any real brushing in. They’ll be lucky to get 2 whole seconds on each tooth.
It has two modes and can be used at different stages of your children’s oral hygiene routine. For babies aged 0-1 years the mellow mode has 3000 pulsations per minute, whilst for children aged 1-4 years, the mighty mode offers 6000 pulsations per minute. The mellow mode is gentler making it perfect for sucking on teething gums to introduce your baby to toothbrushing, whereas the mighty mode is designed to tackle growing teeth and remove any plaque your child may have.
In addition to delivering routine-reminding, dedicated cleaning and adorable design, the toothbrush also comes with a built-in two-minute nursery rhyme timer, light-up steps and ergonomic bear-shaped handle. It’s more than just a toothbrush—it’s the whole mini brushing routine in one product.
Designed For Babies, Toddlers And Real Family Life
Brushi Bear™ has a lovely soft design. The bear-shaped handle is child friendly but not gimmicky. It makes it easier to be held and provides children with excellent grip. Its soft design also makes the brush less fearful to pick up and use.
It also comes with some really clever multi-sensory elements that a toddler will respond to (eg. seeing a light on the handle as they approach your mouth, hearing a familiar nursery rhyme when you start brushing) or follow a routine with (eg. front and back, round and round in circles). This helps children to understand what’s going on and make brushing more fun. For most kids who are resistant to brushing, a little spectacle can make a huge difference.
Brushi Bear™ is a soft brush that makes washing tangled pug heads easier for both of us. As a mum I think the best baby and toddler products are those that make quiet work to reduce the friction of dealing with a toddler, in terms of financial cost and mental stress. Ideally these products should not add any unnecessary complication to the workflow of already overcomplicated daily routines, all they need to do is to make the everyday essentials of parenting a tiny human just a little bit easier.

What Comes In The Set?
The Brushi Bear™ comes with everything you need to set your little one up for oral health success. Includes toothbrush, two (2) patent-pending double-sided developmental heads, USB-C charging station and evidence-based oral health advice from the dentist-founders. Designed for two age ranges: 0-1 years old (silicone gum massager) and 1-4 years old (bristle head).
It’s one of those products that can grow with your baby. According to the makers, you should use the silicone gum massager on your baby from about 4 to 12 months, and then switch to the soft bristle head from 1 year onwards.
The heads are detachable and are supplied with a working life of 2-3 months and must be changed earlier if worn, frayed or damaged.
Rechargeable, Waterproof And More Sustainable
Another great feature of the Brushi Bear™ is that it is rechargeable, and according to the brand, the battery life is 50+ days. That’s a parent-friendly feature because the last thing you need is a baby product that needs batteries changed all the time.
It is also waterproof to IPX7, made with medical grade, pure, high-quality silicone and is BPA-free. It comes with zero plastic packaging and has replaceable heads. This is in-line with the brands more sustainable ethos.
For anyone planning to buy baby equipment or kids’ bits and bobs this is a really useful bit of information – many baby and toddlers products are notorious for producing packaging waste. So it’s good to know if items have reusable parts or not.

Why Early Brushing Habits Matter
I think this product is more suited to children aged 0–4 years as Little Brushies is part of the Tumble Tots range, which focuses on these early years. Many children learn routines and independence at this age, and they can start to connect the everyday care routines of washing their hands with using products like this.
Brushing your teeth can become a really stressful activity, especially if you have kids who won’t brush their teeth. Making this process familiar, playing and predictable will help make it stick.
The Brushi Bear™ makes oral care less clinical and more child-led. The nursery rhyme timer is simple to understand for the children, the lights are bright and the bear is cute and friendly!
It’s also helpful to parents, as the double-sided head and the sonic pulses give you a little more confidence that you are cleaning more effectively on those wild days when you have a toddler helping.
The Bounce Verdict
I really like the Brushi Bear™ by Little Brushies. I think this product was created by people who have recently gone to bed at night with a tired toddler and a bathroom covered in various tooth brushing tools.
A thoughtful, practical, parent-aware toothbrush. The double-sided head is perfect for children who like to bite down on their toothbrush, chew on the brush, or refuse to have their mouth opened wide for brushing. With two modes of cleaning, this toothbrush is suitable for babies and toddlers alike. The in-between teeth cleaning mode, the nursery rhyme timer and the light-up indicators all make oral hygiene fun.
Comparative to a standard children’s toothbrush at £69.50, this is quite an investment; yet it does so much more than clean your children’s teeth. For many families fighting brushing battles, calming a teething child at night or actually getting kids to brush regularly (let alone for the full manufacturer recommended 2 minutes!) Brushi Bear™ could be a handy tool to pop on your bathroom shelf.
As a mum of three I love anything that helps solve a common problem for parents, without adding bulk or hassle to our busy lives. Little Brushies do just that – they’re clever, gentle and really useful.
If there was one product that could conquer the battle of toothbrushing at bedtime, I’d be willing to add it to my arsenal of parenting gadgets.
