Moonpig launches newgift range

Coinciding with the UK’s most popular birthday month, Moonpig has launched its biggest ever collection of toys with new ranges from both The Entertainer & Early Learning Centre.

With up to 200 exciting new gifts to choose from, Moonpig customers can now treat the little ones in their life to toys from hit brands such as Peppa Pig, Disney, Paw Patrol, Squishmallows and LOL Dolls.

To celebrate the arrival of the latest collection, Moonpig has teamed up with behavioural psychologist Dr Amanda Gummer to share some insights into how different types of toys can help children thrive at different ages.

The Early Years: During the early years, children are just beginning to understand the world around them, and they are developing basic motor skills, learning how to grasp, manipulate, and interact with objects. Language underpins almost all aspects of social development, and early language acquisition promotes interactions with others and helps to foster these important skills. Therefore toys that incorporate language such as Talking paddington will support children’s development in this area.
Preschool: During the preschool years, children are likely to enjoy creative and unstructured play. Toys that allow flexibility but also encourage problem-solving, such as construction sets or ELC’s Giant Activity Aqua Mat are ideal for this age group as they offer children the opportunity to express their creativity while supporting their fine motor skill development.

Toys that encourage social interactions such as small-world or role play help children develop communication skills that are valuable in a range of careers and can form the foundation of jobs such as counselling, teaching, police, journalism and many more. Primary Years: As children go through primary school, they are ready for more challenging toys that help them progress their developing interests and skills.
