Mr Organic shines with 6 Great Taste Award wins
The Italian organic brand has just been awarded Great Taste Awards for their Basilico Pasta Sauce, Tomato Puree, Butter Beans, Chickpeas, Lentils, and Tinned Chickpeas. Using only organic ingredients and specialising in store cupboard staples that will make it easier for cooking in the kitchen, Mr Organic has showed that organic farming methods can lead to great tasting products.
All the products that won an award this year are made in-house in Italy, with their Basilico Pasta Sauce and Tomato Puree being made using tomatoes from Mr Organic’s third-generation organic tomato farm in Pontinia, just south of Rome.
The tomatoes are picked and cooked within hours of harvest, maintaining the naturally sweet and rich taste of their Italian sun-ripened tomatoes. When judging the Basilico Pasta Sauce, one of the Great Taste judges wrote,
“We loved the little chunks of tender tomato on the palate, their intrinsic sweetness balanced by tartness”.
” Another judge who tasted Mr Organic’s Tomato Puree wrote, “This product has a lovely colour and rich, sweet and pure depth of flavour. With nowhere to hide, this product has done really well. ”
Mr Organic released their range of Beans in February, with their new Butter Beans, Chickpeas and Lentils cooked with a pinch of salt to bring out the legumes’ natural flavour. They were allcarefully selected and gently cooked by Mr Organic’s bean expert, chef Giovanni. This is the second award this month for Mr Organic’s new Butter Beans, which won a BOOM Award at the beginning of July.
One of the Great Taste Award judges wrote,
“We really liked these beans which taste nutty, creamy and rich. ” Another commented on the Lentils, “Compared to other lentils on the market, these are high quality. They have a well balanced salty flavour and are chewy with agreat texture. ”
Mr Organic’s new Chickpeas received positive feedback as well,
“Lovely plump looking chickpeas…a lovely nutty flavour and very well-judged seasoning. Mr Organic’s Chickpeas also come in a tin, which are cooked simply in water. Despite them not being seasoned, they were well-received from a judge who wrote, “The chickpeas are all of a good size. They are soft and creamy in the mouth. ”
