Tracy’s Treasured Keepsakes becomes a well-known business in creating keepsake bears, cushions and blankets from other peoples sentimental items of clothing.

Tracy Fishburn, Owner of Tracy’s Treasured Keepsakes, set up the business in 2018 and began booking 3-5 clients in each week. After creating her first keepsake bear from her daughters old baby clothes she decided to start up a small business whereby she could offer this service to local parents. Fast forward to now, Tracy is now booking 12-15 keepsakes in each week and a waiting list after taking her business full time in 2020.

Over the last 5 years Self Employed businesses had been steadily increasing, peaking to 5 million people starting up their own business as a source of income. During the Pandemic this did decrease slightly to under 4.2 million but is on the rise again.

Whilst on maternity leave from her job at a Pensions company after her 2nd child she took up sewing again with the idea of turning her eldest daughters old baby clothes into a keepsake bear.
At first Tracy only considered her clientel would be parents like herself, but after being approached by a local grieving mum who had recently lost her son she realised how rewarding her skill was and how she could bring comfort to grieving families by creating something special and unique from their clothes.

In the first year the business had an income of £8k, Tracy launched an information only website, relying on social media and word of mouth to allow her business to grow. Tracy returned to her job part time, allowing her to be home with her family and continue to double the growth her business. But it didn’t stop there, at the start of 2020 Tracy’s Treasured Keepsakes launched an E-Commerce website allowing visitors to order direct through the website and attended The Baby Show at the Excel in London.

Tracy left her job in July 2020 after deciding to focus on the business full time after and the business went on generate an income of £35k. Tracy’s Treasured Keepsakes extended her services by offering a range of Printed Keepsake Gifts too. Tracy says “the thought of leaving my steady income with the unknown of a self employed income was scary, however I had a huge belief in the business and knew it would go from strength to strength. I am eternally grateful to all my past and present customers who have put their trust in me to create them their precious Keepsakes.”
