Popular Car Choices for Women Drivers

Different kinds of motorists demand different types of motor vehicles. Figures collected by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders indicate that the number of women who own and drive a car has increased by around a fifth over the decade leading up to 2018. Moreover, we can see that many of these new drivers prefer a vehicle with a certain aesthetic, and a few practical functions.

Whichever car you choose, it’s vital that you support the decision with regular care and maintenance. This might mean reinflating the tyres regularly, or buying new tyres when the tread depth falls beneath a certain threshold. Ideally, this should be before the legal threshold of 1.6mm, as you’ll experience a dropoff in stopping power before that point.

So, which cars might make a list of the best as far as women are concerned? Let’s take a look.

Fiat 500

Fiat is a manufacturer that offers a distinctive aesthetic. It’s not for everyone, and it doesn’t aspire to be. This is a design philosophy that’s managed to win over many of the nation’s female drivers, thanks to a distinctive combination of curvaceousness and compactness. The Fiat 500 is an exceptionally popular case in point.

Ford Fiesta

For decades, the Fiesta has been the most popular car in the country. It’s only recently that the company has decided to retire it – but it still remains a common sight on UK roads. Offering enviable performance, excellent fuel economy, and a comfortable interior, this is a car whose appeal has understandably lasted. It will probably last for a while longer, too.

Land Rover Discovery

If you’re looking for something that’s a little bit larger, then it’s difficult to beat a Land Rover. These vehicles are perfectly suited to farms and rural environments, though they still offer features and functions that match nicely with a traditional drive on a public road.

Vauxhall Adam

The Adam, from Vauxhall, boasts an affordable way to get around the town. You’ll get excellent legroom in the front seats, but things get a little more cramped in the rear. Cheap to buy and cheap to run, this is an entry-level vehicle that, if you’re willing to opt for the ‘Rocks’ version, will offer respectable performance.

Audi A3

For female drivers in search of executive-level swagger, it’s difficult to beat the appeal of the A3. When YouGov conducted a poll of female drivers in the tail end of 2021, they found that this model came in at number 4. However, when you consider that four of the top ten vehicles preferred by women were Audis, it’s easy to see that this is a manufacturer that’s respected by the fairer sex.
