Top 7 Crazy Locked Out Stories

Locksmiths are essential workers in a lockout. They ensure your safety and security, making them vital when you have accidentally locked yourself in or out.

Surely, you have googled ‘locksmith near me’ for those emergencies where an expert is needed to save the day.

But have you ever wondered what the craziest locked-out (and in) stories are?

Wonder no more, as here we have seven crazy locked-out stories.

The man with the removable door handle

A Reddit user shared on r/askreddit, about his crazy locked-in story. He had recently moved into his second-story flat with his roommates, discovering shortly that the handle on the front door was removable. He found that once the handle was removed there was no way to get back into the flat.

Knowing this, he made sure to be careful but he didn’t account for his roommate bringing a girl home. A girl who shouldn’t have been sleeping in their shared room as they had made a rule earlier that any ‘guest’ would sleep with them on the ‘futon’ in the living room. Still, the man’s roommate broke the rule by asking if he could sleep in the living room, rather than his roommate.

He quietly agreed, planning his revenge and then took the doorknob off before retreating to the living room.

So unfortunately his roommate’s guest was locked in for about 20 minutes the next morning.

A bag of marshmallows

Have you ever locked yourself out after buying your favourite snack?

It’s what you get for being greedy. Just joking, accidents happen.

A Reddit user got locked out when she was buying a large bag of marshmallows. Can you imagine that, being locked outside after buying yourself a treat?

Fortunately, she was in luck though as her grandma didn’t live too far and let her in.

Locked out of your car

Another anonymous person on Google shared that he was sleep-deprived because of his work commutes, and when his car key button wasn’t working, he called a locksmith.

It turned out,  the user had forgotten he could just use his key to open the door. The locksmith was so amused that he provided the service free of charge.

Locked out of your car pt 2

A 17-year-old NeoGaf user had gone to Popeye’s, an American fast-food chain, to treat himself to some chicken.

After receiving his order, he discovered the keys were locked inside the car so he called his mum to bring the spare keys from home.

His mum arrived with the spare key. However, on the way home he was rear-ended.

Fortunately, no one was hurt, and there was no damage to either car, so they decided to let it go and get back into their cars—or at least he tried to.

Once again, he was locked out, so he had to repeat the process, calling his mum to unlock the door and drive him home. To top it all off, the chicken was cold by the time he got home.

Left your wallet at work?

We’ve all done it, left our bags and phones somewhere realising too late that our precious items have been misplaced. Some have left their phones on public transport, some have lost their keys whilst dropping them on the floor unbeknownst to them (those darn pockets), and some, like this user, have left their driving licence in their wallet… at work.

Not only was this man working on the weekend (major bummer), but he had also left his wallet, which had the card that let him into his work’s building, so he couldn’t even go in.

To make matters worse, this was the second time it had happened. The first time, he had left his phone charging on his desk.

Locked in translation

Have you ever been locked inside a classroom? This Reddit user was locked in her classroom after her classmates left one by one, leaving her as the last person to leave. Just as she was about to go, her teacher asked her peer who was ahead of her if anyone else was left in the classroom. Her classmate, who struggled to speak English, said yes, but the teacher heard ‘no.’

At first, being locked in made her panicked, but then she realised she had an hour to herself and embraced being locked in the room. She hid all the pencils of the classmates she didn’t like and played with the guitar.

Although she enjoyed the time alone, she felt a bit betrayed knowing that no one was out looking for her.

Final thoughts

Getting locked out is a nightmare and can ruin your day. But every embarrassing moment makes for a great story and a lasting memory. No one remembers the time they did not get locked in but they do remember the times they have.
