Top tips on how to host your very own Blackjack night

The game of Blackjack, originally known as Vingt-en-Un, is said to have originated in France, in the 1700s. Despite being one of the oldest-known casino games, Blackjack remains one of the most popular, in the modern day. With the lowest house edge and the best winning chances in the whole of the casino, it’s no wonder why this game of luck and strategy is still enjoyed to this day.

If you’ve ever fancied bringing the classy casino atmosphere to you, then you could try playing online casino games at Griffon casino, or your other favourite online site, where Blackjack is just one of the many games you could enjoy. Or, you could host your very own Blackjack night, with your friends and family, to really witness the game in all its glory.

Read on to discover our top tips on how to do just that…

Planning the party

When deciding to host a Blackjack night, you’ll want to figure out a guestlist. Once you’ve done this, picking a venue to hold the number of people attending will be a lot easier. If you’re on a budget, your living room, or even your garden (if the weather allows), would be ideal. Then, you’ll want to buy, or make decorations, pick a soundtrack, provide snacks, and perhaps even dim the lights to recreate that classy, casino atmosphere.

What you’ll need

You could hire a Blackjack table and croupier from an events company, but if you’re hoping to save money, then setting up a surface (or a few) to play the game, as well as either dealing yourself, taking it in turns, or recruiting the help of friends and family who are happy to host the games, will get you well on the way.

Other things you’ll need to host your Blackjack night include:

  • Casino chips, or something similar, to be used as currency
  • Pack(s) of cards. Some games of Blackjack are played with as many as eight 52 decks of cards, but can be played with less if you so wish.
  • A table
  • A croupier
  • Willing players

Understanding Blackjack

To play, or even host the game, you’ll have to have a thorough understanding of Blackjack, and perhaps even a simple rule book to help players learn, if they’re unsure.

Cards are counted at their face value, and the King, Queen and Jack are all count as ten. Aces can count as 11 or one, depending on your hand. The aim of the game is essentially to get your card value as close to, or to equal 21, before the dealer. The game is pretty simple, and can be great fun to play with your friends, either for real money or fake currency.

Hosting the party

Finally, the best bit – the party itself! All players should buy their chips, so that all chips in play are owned by someone. If someone runs out of chips, they can buy more from the ‘pot’, and at the end of the night, players can redeem their chips and take their money back from the pot. If you’re uncomfortable with playing for real money, however, then you can always print or buy fake money and issue everyone with a set amount to “buy” their chips with.

Make sure to set a minimum and maximum bet to keep gameplay regulated. And, most importantly, don’t forget to have fun and enjoy seeing all your hard work and preparation in action.
