Transform your garden for summer…

Transform your garden for summer…

Whether you love entertaining in the evening or enjoying long lazy afternoons in the sun, there is no better time to enjoy your garden than in the summer.

Keen to create your own little garden haven? Let us show you how in our Bounce garden makeover. Here are 5 top tips of how you can improve your garden in the simplest of ways.

1. Create a zone

Zoning your garden will make the space feel bigger no matter what the size. With a bit of creativity when it comes to your garden layout, you can produce separate areas for entertaining, relaxing or even a space for the kids.

You can do this by adding structural additions., as well as planters, walls, screens and hedges to help separate out your areas, plus cleverly positioned seating delineated with an outdoor rug. We used this Monaco Diamond Rug from Run Rug.

Typically, a dining area is on the patio next to the property so it has easy access to the kitchen. You can add decking to create a new space finished with a pergola and outdoor patio furniture to really give it that outdoor room feel. Growing vines and pants around this will also be a great source of shade when needed, but more on shaded areas later.

2. Update your garden furniture

Outdoor spaces often end up as an extension of our homes, so it is no surprise we turn them into a living space for us to socialise and entertain.

Corner lounge sets and hanging chairs have been the most searched for items so far in 2022, as people seek to bring the inside out.

Dining and drinking outside is a huge part of being able to enjoy our gardens, which is where a dining table comes in. These days there’s a huge choice available, from small circular tables to larger designs with built-in fire pits, bench seats and armchairs, as well as sets like this where you benefit from both a sofa and dining table.

We loved the Palma Casual Corner Seating Set from Kettler.

The entire Palma collection boasts finishes of smooth weave synthetic wicker in attractive whitewash.

Tastefully hand woven around lightweight aluminium frame, this rattan garden dining set remains easy to move about and configure as preferred. Lounge, read a book or have the whole crew around to enjoy time spent in the garden or conservatory on this comfortable casual rattan corner sofa dining set.

A tall slat design table that’s easy to wipe clean with a damp cloth, is also the perfect height to enjoy dinner or drinks around.

Complete with two modular Kettler Palma corner sofas that adjoin to each other and two dining stools, this set will comfortably sit 7 people. The cushions of this garden furniture dining set are water resistant but for best care we recommend storing in the harsher months, whereas the rattan furniture itself is integrally resistant to moisture. However, to best protect this set during the winter months protective covers are worth considering, see details of these beneath.

It makes the ideal corner sofa for any garden.

3. Accessorise

Make this the year of your new outdoor living room. Water-resistant rugs, comfy furniture, garden art and mirrors help create a stylish area to relax. We all spend a lot of time and expense into accessorising our homes and our garden is no different.

We selected a range of gorgeous cushions from Broste Copenhagen with matching throws for those cooler evenings.

When entertaining the right tableware is important so this Modern Deco set from Denby is ideal for Al Fresco dining and BBQs.

4. Allow for all weather conditions

Add an electric or gas heater to stay snug and you’ll also get more use out of your new space during spring and autumn.

You could also invest in an umbrella like this Kettler 3.3m Free Arm Parasol with LED Lighting and Wireless Speaker. The top of the range, cantilever parasol will ensure you can enjoy your garden party, even when the sun has gone down. The parasol comes complete with a base, LED lights, wireless speaker and a night cover included, you can even shelter from the rain.

5. Embrace garden tech

The final flourish in our makeover was to add some smart lighting.

Philips Hue have a great range of outdoor lighting which can be controlled from the touch of a button on your phone.

The Impress Pedestal light can be connected to your existing Hue bridge to enjoy all the features like away-from-home control and scheduling but is also great at creating ambience.

Use your Philips Hue lights to transform your home into a festive experience: bright reds and greens for Christmas, subtle pastels for spring or even an eerie purple glow to create the most haunted house on the street at Halloween.
