Cocktail Recipe: ‘Tomatin Rob Roy’
Whisky, Scotland’s national drink, has been lovingly crafted throughout the country for centuries, making it a delicious choice for ringing in the bells and celebrating a brand new year. And to mark the culmination of 2022, Tomatin – recently awarded ‘Whisky Producer of the Year’, has created the perfect spirit-forward Hogmanay Tipple to toast midnight – a modern interpretation on a classic Rob Roy.
Beautiful in its simplicity, and super easy to re-create at home, the Tomatin Rob Roy showcases the complex nature of whisky, while also elevating the flavour with a Portuguese twist. Developed in partnership with Casa de Frango in London’s Borough Market, the vibrant cocktail showcases the warmth and complexity of Tomatin whisky, elevated through the use of Ginjinha – a sweet cherry liqueur that originated in Lisbon.
Ingredients:
- 60ml Tomatin Legacy
- 15ml Carpano antica formula
- 15ml Ginjinha liqueur or cherry liqueur
- 3 dash angostura
- 3 dash angostura orange
- 2 dash barrel-aged bitters
Method: Add the ingredients into a mixing glass with ice and stir until well-chilled. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
Scott Adamson, Blender and Global Brand Ambassador said, “Whether you take your whisky neat, or prefer your dram in a perfectly shaken cocktail, there is no better time to enjoy a nip of liquid gold than when the clock strikes midnight. Not only do winter and whisky make the perfect pairing but combining a delicious malt with an array of vibrant flavours, can create something truly unique and delicious – perfect for a special occasion.”
