Mundo Pixar London Review: Step Inside Your Favourite Pixar Movies

If your child is a Pixar fan, whether it’s Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Cars, Monsters, Inc. or Inside Out, there will be something at Mundo Pixar to entertain them. Just imagine being able to walk into a giant family movie and live inside your favourite film.
Well, that is pretty much exactly what we did at the new Mundo Pixar in London for my son’s 5th birthday and it was definitely one of the highlights of our weekend.
From the moment we entered I completely forgot we were in central London and the kids were completely immersed. Instead of looking at displays and exhibits or listening to clips from the films, you are immersed inside the recreated worlds of Pixar films and you get to walk around and explore.
Mundo Pixar London Overview: What is Mundo Pixar?
Mundo Pixar is an immersive experience taking place at Wembley Park – and brings some of the world’s most popular Pixar films to life across a huge range of themed sets.
As you walk through the experience, you move from one Pixar universe to another with insanely detailed recreations inspired by the likes of: Toy Story, Cars, Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc. Coco Up, Ratatouille, Luca, Elemental, Inside Out.
One minute you’re in Radiator Springs with Lightning McQueen and the next you’re inside Andy’s bedroom feeling as though you’ve suddenly shrunk to toy size. One of the best parts was that every room felt so different so the kids were constantly asking what was coming up next.
Enter Your Favourite Pixar Films
There is something incredibly surreal about walking through locations which you’ve watched so many times before on screen and realising how the same they are in real life.
Our children immediately recognised loads of the characters and environments and I found myself as excited about some of the older Pixar films. There are plenty of interactive elements along the way but for us it was simply the magic of walking through the worlds that we already knew so well that made it special. It also works well with children of different ages.
As our kids are still quite young, I knew they would recognise some characters but not others so at least one of them would be interested in seeing anything new.
Luckily there were always characters they recognised so everyone was happy.
So Many Photo Opportunities
Make sure your phone is fully charged on the day because you are going to want to take loads of pictures. All of the sets are set up to make you feel like you are actually stepping into the Pixar worlds so there are loads of fun family photo moments to capture along the way. I’d leave yourself a little longer in case you want to take lots of photos – you will inevitably want to stop every couple of seconds.
Why I Think Pixar Play World is Great for Families
One of the reasons I’d recommend Mundo Pixar for families is that it is very family-friendly to do. The experience moves from one room to the next so you are never standing still or waiting around for the next thing to entertain you. You’re just always moving into the next (amazing) Pixar location.
It is indoors so it’s also great if you are planning a trip to London with kids and the great British weather is just suddenly closing in. Overall, it’s manageable for small kids but not so long that they lose interest part way around. Things That Are Useful to Know as a Parent There’s a cloakroom which is useful if you are visiting as part of a bigger day in London with bags or your luggage.
There are also toilets and baby-changing facilities for younger children and families.
And then we have to discuss the shop. Parents, this is where your bank account will hate you. The Mundo Pixar shop at the end is enormous. You need to either master the skill of circling your children past the shop very, very quickly or bring spare money because there is a very good chance someone will suddenly not be able to live without a Pixar t-shirt or a stuffed build-your-own-bug gadget.
Celebrating a 5th Birthday at Mundo Pixar
Our visit did, however, feel extra special as it was my son’s fifth birthday.
He absolutely loved it and kept talking about it for the rest of the day which is the best review I can give. At five years old, the walk through experience with the characters he already knew made everything so much more exciting than just visiting an exhibition. It is definitely one of those experiences where you can clearly see that the kids really are taking everything in.
Is the new London Venue Worth Visiting?
For families who love Pixar I think so. It’s bright, it’s immersive, it’s nostalgic and it’s really easy to do as a family.
There is enough familiar content for little ones and parents will probably find themselves getting just as nostalgic as the younger kids do.
It also feels different from the usual London attractions for families because of the temporary exhibit element to it. My Pixar-loving family would definitely try and squeeze it in before it closes down.

Our kids had a wonderful time at Mundo Pixar and I think knowing how excited my son was for his fifth birthday definitely made it extra special.
It really does feel as though you’ve stepped straight through the screens of your favourite Pixar film and into the world of your favourite film – that is pretty much unbeatable for any little Pixar fan.
