All Aboard! Why The Original Kids Tour Is a Brilliant Way to See London as a Family

Original Kids Bus Tour London – By Rachel Ducker

We took our first trip on The Original London Kids Bus Tour over the weekend and it turned out to be one of our favourite family days out exploring London.

As our tour was about 45 minutes long it was just perfect for our little family – with our three children aged 2, 5 and 7 I am always aware of how long the attention span can be but this was just right – enough time for the kids to enjoy the sights of London and not enough to be bored.

Our guide, Jez, was brilliant.

I can’t tell you how good he was with the children as I know how awkward that can be when you’ve got little ones in tow – but Jez was funny, engaging and a real hit. We all felt really comfortable and at ease with him, and the relaxed pace of the tour meant we didn’t feel that we’d overstay our welcome.

And we managed to see an amazing amount in this short trip on a whistle stop tour of London that included Nelsons Column, Downing Street, Channel 4 Studios and the ballerina sculpture, horse guards (with mounted guards on your way past).

We didn’t go down to Buckingham Palace as it was the Changing of the Guard so if that’s part of what you want to see I would double check whether you can see that on the route.

One final happy moment for the kids was when we stopped just outside the Houses of Parliament to hear the bells chime and ringing to the chimes of Big Ben – it was a perfect little moment in London for the children.

Would I Recommend The Original Kids Tour?

Yes. It was glorious sunshine on our trip to London and so it was a lovely way to sit and see a huge amount of London as we toured around.

We didn’t have to go from sightseeing spot to sightseeing spot on foot with three small children and it was very relaxing with no stress or worry at all.

The highlight at the end was that our driver was lovely enough to let the kids climb into the driver’s seat of the bus for a photo – what a lovely end to a lovely trip, especially as it was our son’s 5th Birthday (and he love’s buses).

Is The Original Kids Tour Worth It?

Yes, a perfect way to see London for families.

Whether this is a visit where your children have never been to London before or whether you are regular London visitors, I can heartily recommend The Original Kids Tour as a fun way to see the sights with the children without having them annoyed that they are having to walk from the to do list of London sightseeing.
