Christmas at The Harper

Christmas at The Harper

North Norfolk is known for its big skies, beautiful churches and one of the country’s most unspoilt coastlines. Only a short drive from the picturesque coastal haven of Blakeney is The Harper. A 32-bedroom boutique hotel set in the quaint and typically British village of Langham, where Christmas cheer radiates with church bells ringing and crisp winter air.

On Christmas Eve, guests will be welcomed with mulled wine, stockings in their room and a 3-course meal from The Harper’s d’hote menu. For the highly anticipated day itself there will be canapes of foie gras, cranberry and sourdough, Porthilly oysters with clementine ponzu, and Vacherin de Mont d’or, chestnut & truffle served with champagne at midday, before settling down for the star of the show, the Christmas meal. New for this year, guests will have the choice to have their decadent Christmas meal at the newly acquired, The Langham Blue Bell, The Harper’s sister pub down the road, at either 1.30 pm or 4.30 pm. Alternatively, The Harper’s restaurant Stanley’s offers Christmas dinner at 1.30 pm for those who want a slightly more formal setting for their festivities.

What better way to start Christmas Day than with breakfast served with a Mimosa leading into a five-course Christmas meal, starting with Holkham venison and Jerusalem artichoke, followed by a fish course of Dover sole, scallop mouse and caviar, and of course the main event of organic Norfolk black turkey with all the trimmings and a homemade Christmas pudding to finish. Waiting is a well stocked bar and homely lounge area to resume family traditions, be it opening presents, relaxing, exploring, or perhaps to start new traditions at The Harper. For those who still feel peckish, a light evening buffet will be served.

To combat the post-christmas blues and sore heads that may appear the following morning, The Harper will be busy preparing a Boxing Day Brunch from 9am-2pm. This will include all the breakfast culprits and more. A full English breakfast, eggs benedict or eggs royale will be on the menu but also crispy fried chicken with waffle, burgers or steak with eggs and potato rosti to round off the festivities.
HOW: Rates for 3 nights at The Harper for Christmas, 24th-27th start from £1520.  For single occupancy, and for children aged 4-12, please contact The Harper at [email protected]. Please note menu items may vary. There is a £25 charge per room, per night for dogs.
