BabyBjörn Smart Potty Review: Making Potty Training a Little Easier

BabyBjörn Smart Potty Review: Making Potty Training a Little Easier

BabyBjörn Smart Potty Review: By Rachel Ducker

Some how the milestones of motherhood seem to sneak up on you – You blink and he/she’s grown up! Potty training is definitely one of those milestones and it’s something I feel we’re just about to get to grips with. I honestly cannot believe my daughter Isla is two.

I’ve already been through the potty-training process with my other children so I’ve learnt that not every child can be the same. Some learn quickly and adapt to potty training and you’ve got others that need a lot more patience and reassurance.

Truly, the regular everyday moments in life are made that little bit easier with the right products – I’ve learnt that over the years.

There’s one brand I was more than happy to use again: BabyBjörn.

A Brand That Has Stood the Test of Time

What I also like about BabyBjörn is how well they make their products.

We had a BabyBjörn potty for the boys and it really did last us for ages. All those early toilet training attempts, the small successes and the spills, it was one of those baby purchases that actually turned out to be worth it.

I didn’t even bother to do my own research. I knew where I was going to look, even before I began to.

Naturally, as the youngest, Isla’s got more than her fair share of hand-me-downs. But I felt that this milestone in particular should have something new of her own.

And the gorgeous Powder Pink and White collection especially grabbed my attention.

BabyBjörn Smart Potty: Compact, Elegant, and Useful

It’s a nice reminder that simplicity in design helps to make parental procedures a bit easier.

Secondly, the colour! I was quite happy with the subtle and more refined soft powder pink colour and the fact that the design is simple enough to look good in a family bathroom without feeling out of scale.

But, for sure, practicality comes before aesthetics when you need to go with potty training!

This portable potty is small and lightweight so it can easily be moved around the home and taken with you when traveling. It is made to sit firmly on the floor giving your child a comfortable place to sit.

A key benefit of this unit is the handily removable inner potty that’s easy to dispose of and wash. Unlike many units that require you to clean the entire thing after every use, the center part of this one is removable.

And a handy splashguard too – another parent-friendly touch.

Having three young children myself, I am well aware of how useful easy-to-clean products are, especially when you are trying to keep on top of family life.

Sometimes it’s the little things.

The Matching Step Stool: Building independence

In addition to the potty, I also adore the BabyBjörn Step Stool in Powder Pink/White.

It’s one of those items that may be handy way past the potty-training years.

The stool is shaped with a firm base and anti-slip rubber surface, allowing small children to reach the toilet basin to wash their hands and, as they get older, to help with the family toilet.

It is the freedom to take care of its own which is most attractive to me.

Already at Isla’s age, there’s such a big drive to do everything yourself and I think it’s lovely to have things like this that help support that confidence safely – even with adult supervision!

This lightweight stool can be easily moved from room to room. Featuring the same simple, stylish design as the Smart Potty.

They’re a perfect match to work harmoniously in the bathroom while not taking away the product they are created for.

Potty Training at Isla’s Pace

I’ve been through this with one other child I have learned that it’s not really a one size fits all situation.

It’s so easy to get wrapped up in when children should be ready, especially as nursery time and other milestones loom but I do think you have to bear in mind that all children are different.

It is all about easing her into using the potty and having it in the house so she gets used to it and can have a bit of confidence using it without making a big deal out of it.

I want to make sure this can be a good experience and not something she has to do right now.

And of course, I fully expect there to be some happy little accidents along the way!

What I love about the BabyBjörn range is their simple, effective designs, without bells and whistles.

It is small and simple to use – and the Step Stool that matches it can be used to bolster Isla’s independence as she develops.

Is the BabyBjörn Smart Potty Worth It?

The Smart Potty has an RRP of £29.90, and the Step Stool costs £24.90 – so by no means the cheapest accessories you can buy for potty-training.

Nevertheless, this is nothing new to me as I have been enjoying quite a number of BabyBjörn products already.

That our first potty stood the test of time as a family was part of why I was so excited to get back to the brand.

I like: it’s the right size (not massive!), although children who prefer a more supportive back rest might prefer the bigger Potty Chair from BabyBjörn.

If your family is a fan of well-thought-out design, easily cleanable, reusable items, this is a great set to look into!

My Final Thoughts

The phenomenon of potty training is one of those parenting milestones that can feel like a huge step, not just for our kids, but for us as well.

Seeing Isla gaining her independence reminds me how fast these early years go by.

And even though I’m not ready to say goodbye to all the little baby steps just yet, I’m looking forward to the day her confidence makes another leap.

This is a brand I already trust after years of experience with it, and it’s a good choice for the kind of simple, easy-to-use childrens’ products I prefer, thanks to the smart design of the BabyBjörn Smart Potty and the matching Step Stool.

Yes, the beautiful powder pink colour is just the icing on the cake!
