Reducing The Impact Of Unhealthy Habits: 3 Things You Can Try
Do you have an unhealthy habit? Probably! Unhealthy habits form all the time, and every person in the world has at least a couple. They often don’t take too much effort, and plenty of people only notice them once they’re stuck in a cycle that feels impossible to get out of! On the other hand, positive habits take a bit more time and concentrated effort to form and reinforce.
That makes them harder to incorporate, but it’s not impossible to try and include them. The best thing to do is make small changes that foster this positive vision, and then follow them through to their better conclusion. As such, here are three habits that are typically unhealthy, and three ways to start improving them.
Enjoy ‘Junk’ Food? Cook it Yourself
It’s sometimes said that there’s no such thing as ‘junk food’, but it’s a good catch-all term for food that’s usually super processed and filled with ‘empty’ calories. Takeaways can often be classed as junk food, as can sugary snacks bought straight from the shop.
But seeing as these foods are typically quite tasty, it would be harsh to say cut them out of your life entirely! Instead, try to source the recipe for your favourite junk foods and then start making them yourself.
If you enjoy a burger from a local bar that you know is very high in salt, recreating it at home and adjusting this salt level could still satisfy the craving, but give you something much healthier (and nutritional) to eat!
Smoker? Try Vaping Instead
Smoking is quite a common unhealthy habit, and seeing as it can be addictive, many people take years to try to quit it. However, the invention of new nicotine based products can make this a much easier transition, albeit one that will still take time to get through.
If you’re a smoker and you want to stop turning to it when you’re stressed, try out something like crystal vapes. Flavoured vapes can be much nicer than cigarettes, seeing as you can pick a product that’s been enhanced with a flavour you really like, and they can be a healthier alternative for those trying to remove carcinogens from their life.
Bottle Up Emotions? Start Writing Them Down
Do you find you bottle things up, and in doing so, often have explosive moments caused by the smallest of things? Then it’s time to start getting those thoughts out of your head and down on paper. Even if you don’t want to talk about them, writing them down will help.
When you keep everything locked up and have it just revolving around your mind, you’re going to reinforce the negativity those emotions bring. Without an outlet, that’s still private and lets you say what you really think, it’s only natural that people end up ‘blowing up’ at loved and damaging relationships.
Unhealthy habits are changed bit by bit! Try things like these to make a difference in your own life.
